(Also, guys, while I appreciate cichks broke your heart, and that sucks, let's lay off the whole all women are horrible kind of shit because we're not, thanks, just most of us) The letters, while I know there are some kinds of cichks who are into that, if I can speak from experience, she's either a) not going to read it or b) unfortunately, some women, who are horrible, feel guilt from burning someone who cares about them and instead of being sweet and regretful, decide they hate the guy they just broke up with because it makes it easier for them to be such assholes. So worst case scenario, she's going to be letting her friends read that letter. Do not send mail, do not call, do not email, do not IM. As far as you're concerned, she is dead. Treat her as such. Be sad like you would be for someone who is dead, like well, I am sorry that that person will not be in my life anymore and cry and weep and be upset and get drunk with your buddies but DON'T TALK ABOUT HER BECAUSE SHE IS DEAD NOW. Seriously. You guys are not going to get back together, and if you did get back together, you'd just be waiting for her to pull this same flighty bullshit again. God damn, I've been with my husband for 11 years, and if there is one piece of advice I can give all the young whippersnappers out there (and something I laid out clearly for my husband when we started dating exclusively) is that breaking up is permanent. He will not be able to decide I am out of this relationship and then come back and give it another shot. You need to consider your words and actions carefully, because there are no backsies in a relationship. That way, stupid drunken buffoonery becomes a lot less likely because assholes like the last guy doesn't think fuck her, I'm drunk, we'll get back together in the morning, because he knows, if she leaves him, she's gone. Forever.
